Notes for VIRGIL CLARENCE ADAMS:
This is written by Virgil C Adams grandson [Dennis L Adams Sr].
My grandfather [Virgil C Adams] was a
deeply religious man and believed in our Lord
Jesus Christ. His wife [Julia
McKee-Adams] was also deeply religious. I have so many fond memories of my
grandparents, I will share only a few. When my grandparents lived in Wellston,
MO., they had an old "garage" in the back. The garage had a nice
population of rats that needed thinning out. We started trapping
"rats" with rat traps. I got so excited when we got one, I couldn't
wait to go back and do it again! I remember my
grandfather getting a piece of tree stump and putting it in his garage for me to
practice being a "carpenter". I believe I was barely old enough to
swing a small hammer. He bought me a new hammer, pounds of nails and a new
little coping saw for me to practice with. By the time I got finished with that
tree stump, you couldn't drive a nail anywhere on it without hitting another
nail. My
grandfather taught me how to hunt and fish. I remember him taking me to Forest
Park, St. Louis, MO. for my first fishing trip. I remember catching some sun
fish, and I was so excited. My grandfather [Pap] bought me my first .22 rifle
and 12 gauge double barrel side by side shot gun. We went squirrel hunting many
times and enjoyed ourselves. We went hunting and fishing numerous times before his
death. I can remember him and I
taking a street car from the "Wellston Loop" to the Mississippi River
front for the day and eating at the "White Mill" at the Wellston
street car loop when we returned. From my grandparents Christian example,
teaching and encouragement, and attending Chatham Bible Church in Wellston, MO.
I too accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as my personal
savior. May the Lord bless my grandparents.

Notes for JULIA CATHARINE MCKEE - ADAMS:
[This is written by Julia Adams grandson Dennis L Adams]
My grandmother was the warmest and best
Christian human being I have ever had the privilege of knowing and loving. A tribute
and short history was written for my grandmother at her death by my Uncle Wayne
L Adams, titled, "Cherished Memories of Julia Catherine Adams".
This loving tribute by my Uncle Wayne Adams sums up the life of Julia Adams and
the Christian woman Mrs. Adams was. To this day I have to read it in private, as
I can't control my emotions and tears for such a wonderful, loving and selfless
Christian woman. I miss my grandmother dearly. She is with our Lord
Jesus Christ for evermore.

Notes for WAYNE LEWIS ADAMS:
The following is an electronic mail I
received from my Uncle, Wayne Lewis Adams, on August 6, 2000. I (Dennis L
Adams Sr.) have recently become very interested in our ancestry and have been
working with my uncle Wayne to try to further his research. As you will note,
Wayne Adams has spent many years researching and compiling our family history.
Wayne L. Adams is to be credited with our ancestry tree.
We got into genealogy as a branch off
our photography hobby and got serious about it back in 1958 when Betty's
grandfather died without leaving any decent pictures of himself. With family
pictures it was a natural extension into tree climbing. We dabbled in the
darkroom as long as my eyes held out but now mostly concentrate on using the
computer. I'm attaching a pcx image of John Thomas Adams which I think is the
one you are referring to. I have other pictures of him as well as one of his
father (which is to be used in the Ripley County history). I can either transmit
family pictures you might be interested in as email attachments or could load a
bunch of them onto a zip drive, assuming you have zip drive access. Just let me
know your preference and whether you are just interested in ancestors with the
Adams surname or also in the rest of the motley crew. The same thing would go
for files from my family narratives if they would be helpful for you to use in
starting a book.
