Future Music Festival

Pfft! Future? Where's the glitch, idm, dubstep, baile funk? Not even some drum'n bass. If this is the future I must be in 1991. Anyway, scamming myself free entry, I can't complain. Much. I'll put my bitterness to one side and focus on the positives.

Datarock. I didn't expect much, but they were good fun. Lads in red tracky dax uniform playing out live dance pop ditties.

Who Made Who, a name I heard several times but never got around to actually hearing. Another pleasant surprise. Unexpected awesomeness. Probably wouldn't work that well on record, but in a music festival, some dumb and fun rock riffs and dance beats goes down a treat.

Chemical Brothers. The brothers, the brothers! Ah, the memories, the hits, the psychedelic big screen projections. I thought their two most recent albums were rather rubbish. But hearing them like this, live, muddled sound but mind bending visuals, everything sounds more exciting. Feels like I could forgive them their salmon dance.

Chicks On Speed. Probably couldn't stomach a whole set by them, but briefly dropping by to sample their wares, they sounded surprisingly solid, running thru a medley of their underground hits through constant on stage costume changes and project video footage of their zany performance art bollocks. Sure did put a smile on my face.

Really disappointed the stage Evil Nine played out on had such weak sound.
