Sui Zhen
Lover
Sherlock's Daughter
Jezabels
First band the Jezabels were damn impressive, front girl bit of a live wire, singing, howling, wailing, reminding me of a Karen O or local Sianna Lee. Sounds great. Another name to watch out for in future.
Second support Sherlock's Daughter had some interesting ideas. The lead girl's vocals can be lovely when she wants to be, they were a bit weaker when the girl moved aside to play the keys. A bit messy, loose in places. Not bad.
Third support. Yes, it's a long night tonight, and it's only Thursday! Third support Lover, a rock band from Newcastle. Didn't do anything for me. Even though it was still raining outside, I decided to take a bit of a walk instead. They weren't horrible or anything, I just needed a break.
Finally Sui Zhen. By then things were running quite late. The crowd kinda peaked around Sherlock's Daughter, and has been consistently thinning out since. Maybe I too was getting tired, as I find myself urging the band to get on with it, getting frustrated with the chat and the extended tuning between songs. The songs themselves were a bit underwhelming. The highlights for me being the few tunes that have been on the radio. Left feeling not quite as impressed as last time.
