Angie Hart
Andrew Morris

I forgot the Factory Theatre has a habit of running things on time. Shock shock horror. So I failed to catch the first support.

There was a healthy enough crowd by the time Andrew Morris came on, but such is the nature of this room it can't help but feel a bit cold and empty. Everyone hanging back in the carpeted half, leaving a vast daneflooor/no-man's land between act and punter. Morris was OK, somewhat upstaged by the guest, brought on for a few tunes, a country singer with quite a voice.

Last time I saw Angie Hart play out was a bit further up the road in the tiny Vic by the Park. That's probably still the more suitable venue for tonight's performance, as, Sydney being Sydney, again another quality act plays out to an empty room. Well, three quarters empty. It's probably hard for any local act to make the Factory Theatre feel full. Opening with the quiet old Splendid tune "asleep" segueing neatly into a rockier moment from the new pop solo record. The whole set tonight stems from that record, save for a messy, broken cover of "bizarre love triangle" in the encore. Like the album, it was good, but not spectacular. Cute and beautiful in place, normal and by-the-numbers elsewhere. I was just a touch disappointed.
