Now here's a strange story from the deep.
A gig organised by the Triple J people to celebrate the release of a Groove Train compilation cd, probably. As to be expected, it tries to unearth some local talent.
There was a long list of performers on the bill tonight. Could very well be the brightest stars of electronic music in this country. But when I got there, the turn out was woeful. Really was to be expected, I suppose. I barely heard about this gig myself. But I manage to win some internet based competition and got in for free. So hey, better than staying at home in front of the television, innit?
Deepchild
Endorphin
Katalyst
Meem
Tracky Dax
Tina Harrod
and Sharif Galal spinning tunes in between.
I'm not sure if they were all there. I didn't see all of them, and at time of writing, this happened almost a year ago now. It was just a bit of a mess. These quality acts played out to a near empty room. It was sad, and I decided not to stay on for too long. Tracky Dax dropped equpiment off stage, Deepchild had a go at stand up comedy.
People can piss me off when they are around me. But I didn't know people can piss me off by not being around me too. Bloody hell, people! The entry price was dirt cheap, the acts on offer were quality, and where the fuck was everyone? At home watching reality television? Sydney sucks.
