Moving Through Air featuring London Elektricity

got there bit over an hour after things kicked off and it was still fairly deserted. the place was tiny. the unidentified dj was playing some funky, sharp and light drum'n bass. included in the set some beyonce. damn! you may remember how much i dislike her songs being in dj sets, but i do love non drum'n bass tunes getting a dnb remix, because it sounds so different and the phat fuck off bass lines floods out the vocals anyway. the next support dj play some much harder tunes. if the place was any bigger, i wouldn't have dared, but because the venue was so small, i didn't mind getting on the dance floor and generally making a fool of myself pretty early.

london elektricity, these days most famous for their awesome live shows, visits australia as only a dj+mc combo. but i still went anyway because i was too much of a fan.

the crowd was generally very lovely. i was dressed like the unemployed bum that i am, and it didn't matter one bit. i don't know, but i got a feeling the drum'n bass scene's got to be the friendliest in town. the main set felt like it took quite a while to pick up pace and energy. but then there was this one tune that just stuck out like nothing. i don't know how i could describe it. never heard anything like it. it was like, Mr. Scruff does dnb. it was cute and funny sounding, with a weird girl vocal going "boom eh eh eh eh, woo-wooo woo-wooo" with lots of echo and a strange beat pattern. see, you can't describe dance tracks, its too hard.

from then on in, the set really started to pick up. but also from then on in, i was really getting too tired. haven't danced so much (and so madly) since the last music festival. i still stayed around and danced for another half hour though. cos i'm like that.

Postscript. the kooky tune in question turns out to be a very early version of 'racing green' by High Contrast. Rewind!
