Unkle.
Psyence Fiction. 1998.
A fantastic album that travels from hip hop to soul to rock, post rock whatever. Typical sound of DJ Shadow production, exploring different aspects of trip hop.
Never Never Land. 2003.
Out with DJ Shadow, in with Richard the breaks producer once known as Forme. Delayed me picking up this record, but I needn't have worried. This is a fantastic followup to Psyence Fiction. Eclecticism replaced with a cohesion. Though there may be less hits on this album, overall it flows much better and thus ultimately forms a better album. Very well done.
Big Brother is Watching. 2003.
Their Essential Mix bootlegged and sold in simple but neat packaging. If this isn't a proper/official release, one wonders who does these things? Because, aside from the words "Essential" sneaking into the mix here and there, it's a very professional job. One disc more pop/bootleg sound clash, other disc deeper breaks. Wicked.
Edit Music for a Film. 2005.
An official double disc mix of songs from movie soundtracks, mixed in with movie dialogue that just melts my mind. Brilliant. Again more songs based on one disc, and more deep breaks tracks on the other. The vision, the audacity to do such a thing, I must applaud.
