With a first single like "[explain]", hopes were raised that this may be a more experimental, leftfield record. Well, it is not a pop record. It is a logical step up from her debut. Songs don't quite match the sparseness of instrumentation seen in the first single. A touch middle of the road, undeniably, but with flashes of creativity and uniqueness. Miles better than anything else floating in the charts lately. If this crosses over to mainstream success, all the better for all concerned. Go search for her videos.
