Luis Felipe Garca, director of the men's technical committee of the MGF, who provided the names of the three women and same number of men that will take part in the competition, said that "most probably" Lpez's decision was due to the current situation in the Middle East, even though he ignores when she let the Federation know it.

Out of 10 persons considered in the first place to, now the only national representants are Brenda Magaa, Iyerida Mogolln, Mara del Carmen Moreno, Julio Garca, Francisco Lpez and Manuel Alemn. However, the mexican team could increase in numbers if the Mexican Olympic Comittee authorizes Manuel Salazar and Rafael Garca to compete with the men's team.

The departure of the gymnasts is programmed for Monday 22nd of October and the World Championships will take place from the 28th of October to the 4th of November.

With Lpez, eight place on vault at the Sydney Olympic Games, it is now two the mexican athletes grant-holders of CIMA [a Mexican program for high level sports] who will miss a world competition; after the weight lifter Soraya Jimnez also cancelled her world participation in Turkey because of security measures and lack of concentration.
