Denisse to go to Belgium
To attend the World Championships
MEXICO CITY. The head of the Gymnastics Mexican Federation, Alejandro Peniche Franco, said that a group of national gymnasts traveled to Havana, Cuba, to attend a camp in preparation for the Panamerican Championships, which will take place in Cancn, Quintana Roo, from the 17th to the 25th of September, and for the World Championships in Belgium in November, where the Mexicali gymnast Denisse Lpez will participate.
The group of gymnasts that will go to Cuba are Francisco Lpez, Manuel Salazar, Manuel Alemn, Julio Garca, Salvador Valle, Dalia Garca and Luz Lpez. During the camp the team will have a dual meet with the Cuban National Selection with the aim of detecting the technical faults of our gymnasts and correcting them in time.
He stated that for men it will be the pre-selection that will attend this camp, which will represent our country in the Panamerican and World Championships; while for women there are some gymnasts who did not go to Havana but are considered for the championships anyway. That is the case of Brenda Magaa and Denisse Lpez.
Peniche Franco said as well that the objective for the mexicans will be to agilize their technique and level of competition during the camp with the Cubans, who are considered as the best performers in the Central-american and Caribbean rea. Moreover, the coaches will observe how the group responds under physical and emotional presure.
Alejandro Peniche, who was one of the best mexican gymnasts himself, informed that a lot of importance will be given to the National Championships of the sport, which will take place in Mrida, Yucatn, from the 8th to the 14th of July; as it will be the trial competition to select the teams that will participate in both Cancn and Belgium.
