The "López" vault
Previo a los Juegos Olímpicos de Sydney, Denisse registró su nuevo segundo salto ante FIG para que tuviera su nombre en el Código de Puntuación.
La descripción del salto es:
Redondilla, 1/2 giro, mortal al frente extendido con 1/2 giro
(un salto "Podkopayeva" extendido)
Fue aceptado por FIG y ahora a este salto se le llama "López" y tiene el número 5.505
Before the Sydney Olympic Games, Denisse submited her new second vault to the FIG
to get it named after her in the Code of Points.
The description of the vault is:
Round off, flic with 1/2 turn on, layout front with 1/2 turn
(a laidout "Podkopayeva" vault)
It was accepted by FIG and it is now named the "López" vault, with number 5.505
Los webmasters estaban confundidos acerca de por qué sí fue registrado con su nombre, dado que tuvo una caída cuando lo ejecutó en la final. También porque otras gimnastas podrían haber registrado el mismo salto. Esta es la respuesta que obtuvimos de una juez:
"Leí tu comentario acerca del salto "López". En Sydney, Denisse registró su salto como "redondilla, 1/2 giro, mortal al frente extendido con 1/2 giro (Podkopayeva extendido). Por otro lado, Raducan y Moya registraron "redondilla, 1/2 giro, 1/2 giro mortal atrás extendido (Khorkina extendido).
Me imagino que lo registraron porque aunque en la competencia no lo realizó, durante el entrenamiento de podium lo hizo numerosas veces bien."
The webmasters were confused about why it did get named after her, given that she had a fall when she performed it in the final. Also, because other gymnasts might have submitted it as well. This is the response we got from a brevet judge:
"I read your comment about the "López" vault. In Sydney, Denisse registered her vault as "round off, half turn on, front layout with half turn" (layout Podkopayeva). On the other hand, Raducan and Moya registered "round off, half turn on, half turn, back layout" (layout Khorkina).
I think they registered it because, even if she didn't perform it well in competition, during podium training she performed it well many times."
