The Symphonic Band was rated overall SUPERIOR at the Florida Bandmasters Association District Concert Festival on March 1, 2001.  The band also received a rating of SUPERIOR in sight reading.

The Concert Band was also rated overall SUPERIOR at the same Festival on March 2, 2001.  The Concert Band received a rating of EXCELLENT in sight Reading.

Denison was two of only nine bands (out of twenty three) that received a SUPERIOR, and was the only school in Polk County to have two SUPERIOR rated Bands.

Alicia Barton also received a rating of SUPERIOR as the student conductor of the Symphonic Band.
