Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Class

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is a life-changing eight-week program to restore a sense of balance, control and well being to your life. By learning new approaches to working with stress, pain, chronic illness and the challenges of everyday living, you can follow in the footsteps of the many students before you who have experienced the benefits of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction. Some of the reasons that people participate:

Fee: $360. This fee includes:

 

-- Eight weekly two-hour classes

-- An all-day class retreat

-- A copy of the book, Full Catastrophe Living (describes the model and broader context of MBSR)

-- A set of guided meditation and yoga practice CDs

-- A Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction notebook containing handouts, reading lists, and other support materials

-- Free participation in drop-in continuation classes and retreats

-- An optional post-class consultation with your instructor.

 

CONTINUATION CLASS for Alumni
 
Tuesdays,
5:45-6:30 p.m. Concurrent with quarterly MBSR class. See StressReductionPrograms.com. for current schedule. Runs same schedule as other MBSR classes.  Davis Holistic Health Center. MBSR Alumni only. FREE.

Gentle Yoga and Meditation 

2006 Schedule: Mondays, 7:15 - 8:45 p.m. at Davis Holistic Health Center
This class is a combination of gentle yoga, and mindfulness meditation. All the meditation and yoga is mindfulness-based, meaning, bringing gentle awareness to the present moment. Because the yoga is gentle and restorative, it is appropriate for all levels of skill, even those with no prior experience. These classes are particularly beneficial to anyone looking to lower their stress levels and gain new skills to bring more peace and serenity into their daily lives. Some say they are highly addictive.
Location: Davis Holistic Health Center,  237 D Street, Davis
Cost: $60 for six classes. $12 per class for drop-ins.. Call

About Denise Dempsey
Denise is affiliated with the Sutter Center for Integrative Health. A co-founder of the Davis Holistic Health Center, she studied under the direction of Jon Kabat-Zinn, creator of the nationally acclaimed Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Program, and finished two-year training through the Hakomi Institute of San Francisco. Denise holds a degree in Human Development from UC Davis, is an artist, and has practiced yoga and meditation for over 30 years.
