Bigby Post Office
One of the oldest buildings in Bigby, it was converted into the Post Office in 1952. Though small by most standards, the Bigby Post Office remains virtually as it has been for almost a hundred years except for a new coat of paint and a real lock on the door. The lock doesn't work though. It was bought on sale and there was no key with it. But the ever-inventive post-mistress, Agnes, solved that problem. When she goes home at night, she simply hangs a little sign on the doorknob that says 'Locked' and everyone believes her.

The original door remains, although a pane of glass now covers the crescent moon to keep out the snow, and the remains of the old Sears catalogue still hang on the wall to remind everyone of harder times. Having been a '4-holer', there is plenty of room for Agnes to sit behind the two-by-six board that serves as the counter while one other person can stand on the other side and gather his/her own mail right from his/her own shoe box which has been conveniently stapled to the wall with their own names written on the lid in multi-coloured crayons.

Occasionally, Agnes will pass a parcel over the counter and has even sold a few stamps, but most of the time, she just sits there watching the world pass by her crescent moon.

Weldon Waldon is her best customer, by far. Each month he arrives to pick up a package... a plain-wrapped parcel about the size of a magazine, which he mysteriously slips under his shirt and runs home as quickly as he can. Whatever he gets must certainly be worth the wait. Nobody sees Weldon for days afterward.
