BEHAVIOR PLAN
My goal is to help my students develope strong social skills.  It is important for them to

develop responsibility and an ability to not only make good choices for their behavior but

learn strategies for intervening in conflicts and becoming peacemakers.  Learning problem

solving strategies will not only help them at a young age but is essential later in life.  I want to
empower my students with the ability to determine their own behavior, encourage self-control

and accept problem ownership.  They become accountable for their own life choices as

opposed to blaming other for their actions.

We develop classroom rules together so students take ownership of them.  They may change
throughout the year if your children see a need to do so.  Rules generally follow two basic

categories:

1.  Classroom Management (ex; raising hand before speaking).
2.  Social (ex; everyone in the class has a right not to be disturbed by others).

Our rules help children learn to respect each other and develop social skills necessary to

function effectively as a group.

CLASSROOM RULES:
1. Always raise your hand when you want to speak.
2. Sit quietly during circle/large group time.
3. Always keep your hands and feet to yourself/respect the rights of others.
4. Walk quietly in the hallway so we do not disturb the other classrooms.
5. Always clean up after yourself and help keep our classroom neat.
6. Respect your own property and the property of others.
7.  Follow playground rules so we can all be safe.
8.  Be kind to others and respect their feelings.

STRATEGIES FOR MAKING GOOD CHOICES AND PROBLEM SOLVING. (Kelso's Choices)
1. Go to another game.
2. Share and take turns.
3. Talk it out.
4. Walk away.
5. Ignore it.
6. Tell them to stop.
7. Apologize
8. Make a deal.
9. Wait and cool off.

BEHAVIOR MANAGEMENT SYSTEM:  Students who make inappropriate choices throughout the day will follow the guidelines below:

All students begin the day with a blue, red, yellow and green tag.

*First inappropriate behavior choice requires the child to pull their green tag.  This is a warning.
*Second inappropriate behavior choice requires the child to pull their yellow tag.  The child loses 5 minutes of their recess time.
*Third inappropriate behavior choice requires the child to pull their red tag.  This results in a loss of 10 minutes from thier recess.
*Fourth inappropriate behavior choice requires that the child pull their blue tag.  This results in the loss of their entire recess and they must make a phone call to parents.

*****Students will staple a copy of the daily behavior sheet  (to their planner each week) on Monday mornings. They will color in the tag that is left in our chart each afternoon.  This gives you the opportunity to see whether they were required to pull a tag each day.
