The Kanasan Economy
performed quite strong in the year 2000-2001. Growth was lead by higher oil and
fish stock prices in 2001 at 4.5%. Unfortunately, the high tech sector has gone
down in the past few years with several thousand layoffs in the workforce.
However, prospects look good in the long term for many high tech companies in
Kanasa. 2001 also showed a significant budget surplus due to higher exports and
the tightening of the monetary policy. Continuing problems for center-left government
includes diversification of main economic activity and reducing the continually
rising unemployment rate.
