The rules of Demonz

Intro

Demonz is quite a rough game if your the sort of player who depends on security and reliability of people to follow simple tasks. When playing demonz, its best not to downsize SC and double task something else--its always when you aren't looking something good happens.

Specifications

When playing demonz you need a few things to have a real game. First off, you'll need a good map that can support the maximum players on b.net. One of the best maps for demonz is BGH, along with Blue Night in Seoul. Of course, every map has its flaws when it comes from blizzard, so you should probably play a version from my good friend -Flike-, entitled D-BGH. D-BGH simply sets out the rules for versions of demonz and has modifications for equal expansions (i.e. if your in top mid your expansion isn't where 3 different directions can attack it) and fair raised ground behind minerals. After you've got the right map, you'll need 4+ other players rarin' to go play. You create a game with whatever name and password you like, but choose from the list of game types "Use Maps Settings". When they've all joined, you can decide as a group whether to get unpredictability and go random or pick races. I prefer random to see the play of the other members who don't exactly perform well as Terran. After you start the game, have everyone click on "Allied Victory" at the beginning of the game.

Gameplay

Now that you've got your game started and have 4 or more other people in the game and have allied vic. on, you are ready to play Demonz. When you play, you and the others build up to beat one another. When a person beats another person, the person beaten says 'I give'. The beaten person allies his aggressor, and they become a team. The ally order goes beaten then aggressor. After a while in the game, teams begin to form and rivalries for players emerge. When a player on a team gets taken by another team, he must de-ally everyone on his current team and ally the other team that beat him. After a team conquers everyone, the leader of the team (The person who took the first person to join the team) will be given a "Victory" prompt by the map and everyone else a Defeat. To illustrate a basic demonz game, I will give an expample:

5 players are playing a game of demonz. From the start, Player 2 begins to show signs of strength, and intimidates player 1 into giving after a small rush. Player 5 immediately rushes 4, and soon after takes 3. Players 5, 4, and 3 all attack player 2 and he quickly gives. Player 1 gives soon after. At this point, player 5 is the team leader, and wins the game.

Strategy

Ok, this is the most contravercial part of demonz. Alot of people have argued the point, but here's the bottom line:

1. You do not have to give to them if they beat you.
2. You do not have to let them give to you.

The whole point of these rules is that people can be really lame (like I used to do) is do strategic gives and give if they see a unit hovering around their base. Or, they can pre-arrange teams beforehand to get the best combination of players to win. Let me be the first to tell you I've done this before, but now I realize how it ruins the game, and so I usually go for the people who do that. At times, I've let people who I know would give strategically to me take a pounding at their main base before I let them give. Of course, the opposite of that is not giving at all because of pride. If you use these rules, your demonz games will be a lot more fun for you, but not necessarily to the people you apply them to. I can recall an occasion where an anonymous player and I were allied, and we double attacked another player. This player happened to be an elder member of nigma, so he didn't give. Instead, he let his pride get to him and used all his forces on the attackers so if he was forced to give to us nigmaffins (People new to nigma) he would give back quickly if attacked. In any case, we lost the game because of it, and I personally despise this member still for letting his pride overrule having a good game. I sometimes impose rules on new players that tend to give fast to other people, like "If you give to him, and I will kill you and him both." Or "If you attack my ally, I won't let you give to me." Strategy is deep in demonz, from taking people in ways that least affect their armies to help another ally, to killing people who you know will backstab (which is frowned apon and is usually rewarded with a no-gives attack) because they pose a greater threat as an ally. Enjoy any future games you play, and remember the rules well.
