This is the poem which Forever is based slightly upon.
They were coming to take her away,
For what reason she did not know,
Her husband stood still,
As the grisly figures in the distance,
Anonymously approached.
They were coming to take her away.
He reached out and grabbed her hand,
As the other was bound in groaning chains.
She said, “Please wait for me,
Farewell.”
The had come and taken her away.
He cried and cried,
Waited season upon season
For her return,
When yet she still not return,
He allowed himself to move on.
They had taken her away.
He let his soul fly,
And gave up his life,
For there was no point in living no more,
And said, “Farewell,” to the world.
They hadn’t released her.
As his soul was jerked upwards,
He felt her.
Felt her presence all around him,
And there she was right beside him.
“Thank you for waiting for me,”
She said.
They had taken her away, but now he had her back.
