She cried out.

Cried out in fear and pain,

As she was slow dragged

Away from the fray.

Dragged away from the dying friends.

Screaming and hollering ‘let me go, let me go!’

To the dark shape that carried her to safety.

She reached out, as a final sentiment to those she knew,

To those she knew since a tiny mouse,

To the life she knew to well and cried and cried,

And sobbed, and sobbed.
