The Negotiation

The group traveled in two halves, and met 1/2 mile from the dwarven keep. Mahntar, Fatoxhxj, Yanni and Valeska were to be the main negotiating party: 2 men at arms, an advisor and the negotiator. The other four all decided on their own to get closer to the negotiation site in case things went badly. Well, not Sylgen. He napped.
The negotiations went fairly well, from a debate standpoint. Valeska had this Derro lady, and drow torturer in a bind, and she was cool as a cucumber, with a few of Bama’s Peak Plunderers standing nearby, along with 15 Derro warriors not far away. But in drinking the wine to seal the deal, both Yanni and Valeska could tell they were being poisoned. A trap? Or a tradition? Once Mahntar got Tamil's body (yes, they killed him) and this nerdy derro had counted the bag full of money, Yanni yelled out "TRAP!!" and proceeded to run away at top speed. Mahntar followed in the same direction. For a few seconds there was a staredown amongst groups, one group daring the other to make a move.

A Drider chased after Mahntar, and forced him to put the body down and they started a little scrapping. Findel threw a fog cloud onto the main area confusing things some and gradually everyone went running their own way. Valeska and Faroxhxj seemed to not flee immediately but were poised for action. Eventually, the drider backed off and Mahntar and Yanni moved off with Tamil's body together. The Derro were back in their compound. All was good.

But suddenly Yanni lost sight of Mahntar. He realized that there was an illusion over a hole in the ground. He cast fly and dove down into the earth. Findel, seeing figments around, cast a dispel magic, and unwittingly dispelled the bottomless pit spell and Yanni, Mahntar, and Tamils body were in. Now trapped in another plane! Eventually the illusions wore off & Faroxhxj, Judas, and Valeska got there at the same time as Findel. Faroxhxj put up his portable moat for protection.
Arguments that were heated took place between Valeska and Findel. Who’se fault was it that the negotiations went the way they did. You don’t trust me? I don’t trust you! Blah blah (and so forth, see the bloggage) Eventually a little goblin from the Plunderers revealed himself and told them that they were screwed without his help. A couple of the hobgoblins came and eventually the leader Klaktor did some talkings. For their help in rescuing the three below, they would require a contract for 3 months at this keep both Valeska and Findel mentioned. At this point Valeska said forget it and left Findel, Judas and Fatoxjxh to deal with this situation themselves. Klaktor said they’ve grown bored with this place and wanted another keep to protect. So Findel was forced to write up a contract that was to start in 2-3 weeks. For three months the Plunderers will protect Castle Ulmade for the price of 5400 varre. The group tended to agree it was a very high price.

A contract forged, everyone went to sleep and the next morning Judas focused, while the Goblin cast his pit spell again. Judas communicated to Yanni and Co, who were still falling, to start teleporting up up and up, since they were in the same plane again. Yanni, very comfortable falling, had a good nights sleep and prepared every spell he had at his arsenal for upwards movement. Basically every spell was cast and the last spell they flew up out of the hole into the crisp morning air! An amazing rescue if a DM says so himself!
