Quest for a Corpse
Having completed your task for the Azuviir family and helped make their claim to a nation as legitimate as possible, now focus on your next task. You were contacted by Judas Hawx, and in return for some favor done previous by him for Savuud, agreed to retrieve a corpse from some long lost and forgotten tomb to the west/north-west of here. Your group, having separated from the soldiers, made a much faster pace to the northwest. Somehow, your task intrigued Ehzahl, the Wizard from the Azuviir council, and he had agreed to accompany you and ideally teleport you back once completed.
About two weeks into your journey, your group ran into another small group of adventurers, leading a casket down a river. Curt Abagrin, a short-tempered warrior from Ballenthus (whom Savuud has met before), was leading the way with his group. After chatting over a splendid lunch of rations and rabbit, you learned that they too, were hired to recover an ancient warrior/leader’s body. They were in the process of returning to Strea-Tarl, in hopes of accepting some serious KA-ching for their efforts. Tamil tried to get lucky with this one hotty, but no dice…yet!
Spurred on by their success, or maybe not, you rode on. Attacked by giant dragonflies, your group savored its first legitimate battle. No one died. That’s a good start. And after leaving that scarred battleground behind, trekked on another two weeks to the edge of an ancient, ruined city.
Venturing into the city, you learned that this city, really, really dug art, or there was somethin’ at some point turning peoples into statues. You now believe the latter. Medusa, Medusae, or perhaps their male counterparts, the Maedar. So be it. Upon finding the main manor, you searched it, and ran into another group of adventurers. All of their names elude you, but you know that there is a thief, a bard, a Cleric of Travel, a warrior, and of course the High Arch-mage of the Goldhoard Mountains, SIR. While unfortunately dubbed, ‘Hey You’, this wizard and his group (now called The GoldHoard Grubbers) declared that since they were here first, adventuring etiquette would deem you too keep your hands off. Alas, you didn’t like what they had to say, what they wore, or anything about them, and cleverly spiked them into their current room.
From there, eventually you all made it to the tomb entrance. You’ve successfully bypassed a great many of the traps, while finding some crypts, bones and other things… Eventually, some of you broke your own way, looking for clues, doors, or treasure. Some of you got hurt, some did not. Finding the correct area of the tomb (or so you believe), you ignored the torture and suffering section and went rather quickly to the Priests of Time section.
Eventually you found a little action. This undead purple thing started whoopin’ ass. Tamil and Lena were blipped away. Savuud started chopping it. Yanni blasted it with Magic Missiles. After that, two crusty-dusty skeletons got all powdery on ye, and Valeska didn’t care for that much (i.e-poisoned). Tamil returned to the group out of breath, saying he got blipped to the deserted city somehow, and that The GoldHoard Grubbers were in the main crypt area, several rooms back.
Meanwhile, Savuud was busy holding a coffin lid, frozen in his thoughts and fears. Eventually, you shook him out of it, and were about to open the door to the final resting place of Lord Gregor. Meanwhile, Savuud snuck off, without a word to the others. Leena was still missing.
The rest of you opened the door to this room… what trap would kill you, you all thought. You did hear a big BOOM of stone landing upon stone, although it wasn’t around here. Entering this chamber you saw a big ole sarcophagus. You searched for traps and secret doors, but no dice. Opening the lid, you saw the bones, the black plate armor, a two-handed sword, helm and ring. Tamil, scrounged up the ring, just as Ehzall the Mighty, animated this Lord Gregor corpse with a powerful animate spell.
