Dominique Destine sat at her desk in Nightstone Unlimited, thinking what
a fool she had been, the plan had been so simple. Kill Goliath and take control of the Clan and be
reunited with her daughter, that is why she had hired the human with the invisible suit, with his
help she thought it could be accomplished, her plan had been so simple, yet time after time her
plans had been thwarted.
Her plan had been going so well, until Angela had defied her order and followed her into the ship
and had been wounded, from there the plan had unraveled, Goliath had broken free of the chains
and had put the invisible Hunter out of action, so he was useless to her, the worst thing she had
seen in centuries was Angela crying and known she was responsible. That image had haunted her
for two weeks straight now, she could not forget that image, she felt a piece of her die when she
saw that.
Dominique glanced out the window, after trying to clear her memory of
that thought, she got up and went to her secret chamber, as the sun
faded from her view, she had felt waves upon waves of pain that stuck
deep within her. The pain had continued until she had completed her
transformation into Demona. From the night of that failed plan she had vowed to herself that she
would try to regain Angela's trust, no matter what the cost. At Castle
Wyvern, the Clan emerged from their stone hibernation, roars filled the
night, Angela had mixed feelings about the night that had occurred two
weeks ago, She felt very angry and very sad, as soon as Angela had
thought about Demona, she had become enraged that her mother would do
that to her. She walked up and said to her Father, "I need some time alone tonight,
why don't you guys go on patrol without me tonight", Goliath just nodded,
for he knew what she was going through, he had felt Demona's betrayal of
the Clan deeply each day and he more then anyone else knew what Angela
was going through. Goliath simply said, "I am here if you ever need to
talk Angela." Angela nodded and said, "I know" with that she had glided off.
She needed time alone to think and regain control of her emotions, she landed on
the building that she and Demon had talked that night, just before the invisible suited man had
attacked them, she went and sat in the corner, she found that she could no longer could control
her emotions and no longer consider Demona as her mother, or even a friend. Angela put her head
in her talons and cried. A taloned hand laid itself on her left shoulder, Angela gazed up and saw
no one other then Demona standing before her, Angela glanced up and saw something that she
had never seen before, Demona was crying, tears were coming from her eyes, Angela was still
very angry.
Angela was also very suspicious, was Demona just trying to trick her or did she really mean it
sincerely this time?? She had trusted Demona once and Demona had betrayed her trust, worse
Demona had destroyed their only chance to truly become a family, Angela and Demona both
stared at each other for what seemed forever they were both thinking how much they were alike
and how much they were different. Angela was the first one to make a decision, she stood up and
wrapped her arms around Demona and hugged her. This action took Demona by complete
suprise, at first all Demonacould do was let her arms hang loosely by her side, then she to put her
arms around Angela and hugged her.
When the embrace ended, they both looked at each other and saw that
they were both crying tears of sorrow, but at the same time, tears of joy as well. Angela said "Oh
Mother, I was so hurt when you betrayed my trust, I could not believe that you could have done
that to me", Demona just hugged Angela and cried, Angela sobbed and hugged Demona back.
When the embrace ended, Angela cried and said, "I love you mother." Demona just sobbed and
said, "My Daughter, I am so sorry, I promise never to hurt you again." They embraced, mother
and daughter in each other's arms as the sun came up and they turned to stone, a brilliant sculptor
could not have painted a better picture, A Mother and Daughter hugging each other and this time,
The love was real.
As the sun dropped beneath the clouds the next night, Angela and Demona awoke from their
stone hibernation the next night and hugged each other once more, Demona grinned and asked if
Angela would like to come gliding with her. Angela nodded and lept off the rooftop, opening her
wings and catching an updraft, Angela looked to the side and Demona was gliding along side her,
Demona told Angela all about her life and her experiences. Angela asked Demona if she could ask
two questions that might be painful for Demona to answer, Demona nodded, "go ahead Angela"
Angela asked, "why
do you hate humanity so much mother?" Demona thought about this question deeply and then
answered, "Angela, you know Goliath and your clan were frozen in stone for a thousand years
until Xanatos brought Castle Wvyern above the clouds, thus breaking the Magus's spell?" Angela
nodded and Demona replied, "For a thousand years, I was alive, fighting for my life, I have seen
horrors that would blast your soul. I do not, nor will I ever trust humans again." Angela nodded
and asked the most difficult question she had ever been asked in her life, She almost was not able
to answer the question. Angela asked, "Do you still love my father?" Demona thought about this
question for a long time and then turned to Angela and said finally answered with a sorrow filled
voice. "Yes Angela, I do, but Goliath loves that human of his, Elisa Maza.
"Demona said those two words with such great sorrow and a great deal of anger, she growled at
the name and her eyes glowed red with hatred. Then she sighed and said, "I suppose it is my own
fault, my views differed from Goliath's and I let my anger take control and ruin my only chance to
regain my love's trust and compassion." Demona shook her head and said "all this time, I called
Goliath a fool, when truly I am the fool." Angela glided down to a rooftop and Demona followed
her. Angela wrapped her arms around Demona and hugged her. Angela replied, "I don't think you
are a fool mother, just lonely as I was before last night, when you came and found me." Demona
embraced Angela back and cried, tears flowing from Demona's eyes. Demona glanced at Angela
and said softly,"do you forgive me my daughter?" Angela just sobbed and answered "of course I
will mother," they sat there just hugging each other for a long time.
When the hug ended, they both said at the same time, "Thank you, this is a night I will never
forget" they hugged once more. With the dawn quickly approaching, they both bid each other
good bye and planned to meet another meeting again as soon as they could. Angela and Demona
hopped up onto the same ledge, spread their wings and leapt into the air, catching different air
currents carrying them in the opposite direction of each other. When Angela landed back in the
courtyard of Castle Wyvern, Goliath rushed over to her and thre his arms around her, and asked
"are you all right my daughter?" " When you did not come back last night, we feared for your
safety." Angela just smiled and said, "I am fine Father," Goliath asked what she has been doing.
Angela smiled widely and said, "Just visiting with an old friend," Goliath frowned but did not
question her further. When Angela jumped up onto her perch for the day, the sun hit her and she
turned to stone with a huge smile on her face. Demona landed back at Nightstone Unlimited just
as the sun rose and completed her transformation into Dominique Destine when the sun's ray's
touched her. Both mother and daughter were thinking the same thing. How good it felt not to be
alone and lonely anymore.
