Act One: Learning the Hard Way
John "Blink" Carruthers has been the eternal trickster, confidant and mentor of the crucible. With a playful attitude that quickly transform into focused determination when trouble happens, John has helped the crucible understand the basics of their horrors and was present when the crucible first encountered Spectres known as the Lost Boys.

John has been forging a good friendship with Everard ever since the two have been hanging together at the gym. Rumor has it John may be bisexual, and to the crucible, the truth of the matter has started to come to light.

Act Two: We are not Alone
Uncovering secrets and information with the Kate and Andrew's Crucible, John struggles to maintain his happy-humorous demeanor. Though part of him feels the grittiness and darkness of things coming to light, he realises that unless someone keeps a smile going, Spite will overwhelm everything. And although his concern and feelings for Andrew Everard remain unrequited, John realises that romance and love may have to wait.. even for a man with a deadline in life.

Act Three: Ne Me Mori Facias
John doesn't know what to do now that everything seems to have gone from interesting to seriously-fucking-deadly-for-everyone-in-the-world. Part of him wishes he could simply have fun the way he used to when Orpheus was still around. Still, John isn't a child and he realises there are responsibilities now that the Crucible alone can face. He only wishes the others could do face it with a smile sometimes.

Act Four: And the Holy Ghost
Realising that life and death can both be fleeting, John has finally decided to bring his attractions towards Andrew to the fore. Though he tries to remain the spirit of the group and keeps the wary smiling, he knows that he is afraid more than ever in his entire life and that if he is not careful, the curtain may fall and his place on the stage of life may end.

Act Five: Alliances
John valiantly stood by Andrew Everard's side, and in many ways was like Bobby Channing's younger brother. But when the crucible faced certain defeat against a Spectre far too powerful to be defeated, John's actions allowed the crucible to last longer enough to be able to send messages or words of encouragement to the younger crucible before being consumed utterly by the Spectre in the memory tower. John Carruthers lost his life in the war.
