Act One: Learning the Hard Way
Retired Captain Chet Mason has always been seen as the most verbally abusive member of the senior crucible. Ironically, Chet also happens to be the one who seems most... observant and perceptive of the bigger picture in the group. More often than not, the Skin Rider has a tendancy to mouth off more than most realise he was aware of.

In the most typically expected fashion, the retired soldier loves the thrill of combat and tends to bark out orders even to his superiors when the fighting starts.

Act Two: We are not Alone
Like Amelia Harper and Hoyt Masterson, Chet Mason surrendered to the police and FBI when the Crucible was cornered in the hospital. With his usual cantankerous manner, he constantly reminded the interviewers and interrogators of his background and achievements, and in two occasions, got an interrogator to quit after being psychologically threatened by the old man. Chet Mason still feels a fatherly attachment to Bobby Channing and Shepherd Remington, but fears the two might be too worried about their sexuality to show open concern for each other.

Act Three: Ne Me Mori Facias
Chet can't seem to place a finger down on what he has begun to notice about the Spectral presence in the world. As a survivor of the war, Chet knows there is something oddily and disturbingly familiar with what is going on, but he can't seem to quite pin it down. Though his connections to the military have proven to be very good sources of influence towards both the government and the media, Chet's pushing the group to take a more coordinated martial bent may suggest something he has yet to share openly.

Act Four: And the Holy Ghost
Without informing the Crucible, Chet Mason has been anticipating something big. While the others search for clues and information, Mason has been building. He has been preparing numerous hive-fused material and has been expecting something he cannot put words into. Perhaps its his old war-instincts speaking up. Or perhaps its a form of senility taht comes to those who have lost their body. But one this is certain, Chet knows better than to ignore it. He ignored it before and it cost him his body. He won't make that mistake again.

Act Five: Alliances
Mason leaves the group to try and recover the lost crucible members in a solo trek into the Underworld. There, though he survives the trials and finds a way back to the land of the living, he realises that his destiny is to remain there someday and fight his last fight. Chet does not realise how true his words are until the day comes that he is taken prisoner by a massive Spectre and used as a hostage to force the crucible to surrender. He has never ever admitted how proud he was of the crucible til that moment when they showed their determination to succeed no matter what. Chet Mason loses his life in the war.
