Tom Hayes
While back in Orpheus, Robert Channing and Shepherd Remington spend some time working out and getting more physically fit. Though the day seems fun at first with both sides tossing jokes at one another, a foreshadowing of the trouble to come emerges when Kate Dennison and Tom Hayes are seen complaining to the Chief Physician Murthy Chandrawati about horrific dreams and nightmares. Sheph learns that his dead father may yet be haunting their house, and turns away any attempts of his mother to reach out and try to form a relationship with him. Long disgusted by how she had carried herself in her marriage to his father, Sheph ignores her even as she begs him to give her a second chance.

Needless to say, the senior crucible is aghast. And the Board of Directors begins considering dropping some members of the crucible from employment for their actions. Fiorello receives a stern warning from the Mayor who has been secretly his patron for quite some time, but reminds the mayor to be careful himself. Robert visits Amelia's home to check on her only to discover her husband beating her up. Though he succeeds in getting him to stop, she begs him to leave them alone and tells him that she will take care of things. Pleading to him not to tell anyone, Amelia sends him away and closes the door. Andrew Everard catches his lover, Matthew Raine, having sex with a black woman. He starts a fight and projects, leaving his body on the ground as if dead. To his surprise, both still see his projected form! Deducing the two are doing pigment, he tells the woman off to leave and tries to repair the damage to their relationship. And just as Robert finally gets back to the Orpheus HQ to settle back, he meets a woman who attempts to exchange information regarding Nextworld Inc, Terrel and Squibb and Orpheus. Robert declines but finds himself trapped as she blackmails him with the possibility of exposing the picture of him that she had taken in front of Chains and becoming one of the first Orpheus agents to be fully given media coverage. Robert has three hours to decide and upon speaking with Tom Hayes, realises that some of the senior operatives sometimes feel that maybe it would be better if the truth was allowed out a bit. Andrew has a nightmare. He dreams of a bloodied cradle and of a weeping baby. The baby utters his name and horrifically leaps out of the crib. Andrew realises the baby is a Lost Boy and wakes from his dream only to see the spectre actually present in the room! The Spectre runs off and Andrew sees around seven more of the spectres running away in the streets. Tom Hayes
