| Ever since the Filmation Ghostbusters was released in 1986, the two sides of fans have met in battle, with the fans of both watching in disgust. When The Real Ghostbusters and FGB went on the air, trouble brewed. Many think that FGB ripped off the Columbia movies, while people who know their history say that Columbia stole the title from the Filmation 1975 show "The Ghost Busters." So I write this rant with one thought in mind: COMPARISION. And away we go with the differences: 1. The RGB operate out of an old firehouse, while the FGB operate out of Ghost Command, a converted house with every object being able to walk and talk. 2. The RGB has Janine(their secretary), and Slimer. The FGB has Belfry, and they take their own phone calls. 3. The RGB's equipment(Proton Packs, Ghost Traps, Proton Guns) is different from the FGB's equipment(Dematerializers and a few crazy devices). 4. Vehicles: The RGB uses the Ecto-1. The FGB has the smart-alleck GhostBuggy. 5. Their theme songs, obviously. 6. The FGB has a main villain, Prime Evil. The RGB simply fights any ghost that gets in their way. 7. "The Real Ghostbusters" is serious, while "Filmation's Ghosbusters" is funny. 8. The catchphrases: RGB's "who ya gonna call?" and FGB's "Let's go, Ghostbusters!" With differences like those, it's hard to imagine the GBs having any similarities. But they do have a few: 1. Both animated shows were inspired off of an earlier project. 2. The name Ghostbusters and the theme of the show(Ghostbusting) link them. 3. Eddie and Ray are supposedly similar in personality. 4. Both teams have a goofball: Tracy(FGB), and Slimer(RGB). 5. This one really surprised me. BOTH TEAMS OPERATE IN NEW YORK!!!!! 6. Both have a well-known animation company behind them(DiC for RGB). So just who ARE the Real Ghostbusters? After careful consideration, I decided that it's simply a matter of perspective. In short, the REAL Ghostbusters are whichever YOU want them to be. And right now, I say the Filmation GBs are the Real Ghostbusters. I am Demon, and once again, this has been Demon's Rants. NEXT TIME: Is Survivor FIXED???? |
