Driving Tips to help you in the derbys!!! |
Tips!!! |
There are alot of tips that pros know and thats how you see people win alot of derbys..I
may not have alot of experiance, but I watch demo derby's, videos of derbys
and talk to people and read webpages that have helped me home in on my demo
derby driving skills.. First Let me say that the people who go out and slam and slam and slam and get the crowds going wild are usually not the people who win and go on to the feature...! Ok now for some of the tips I have learned and been told.. 1. Before you race watch some of the other demos, and make sure to find the spots that are muddy and laces where you can get stuck or be left in the open to get nailed.. 2. When you line up always find a spot to go as soon as the flag drops, this way you wont be confused when the flagman waves green and you get hit a couple of times before figuring out where to go... 3. When you get to your spot wait bout 3 seconds then look back and take off....then go back to your spot of another spot you have picked and wait about 5 seconds then go....after that keep going to a corner and wating anywhere from 3-10 seconds before going.. 4. Ok always try to drive counter clockwise..This way your drivers saide door is facing the action...Doing this will make alot of drivers not try to hit you for fear of disqualification.. 5. Always try to use your car sraringly..Alot of people I know will go out and lsam with their back end and not hit at all with their front end. This is totally wrong IMO.. Doing this they will probably end up winning the heat, but then at the feature they will realize that they dont have a backend so their hits wont give that much damnage...so they wont win.. 6. (form above) always try to use all parts of your car...dont hit a bunch with your front , but try to use it a couple times...this way other drivers wont think you have a crappy front end and ill not go after it as much... I hope you enjoyed reading this as much as I did writing it.. -Ryan- |
