goes away.

our world will crumble and depression will swallow humanity in the dark future.

written, produced and engineered by andrew falcao. programming, synth guitars, synth bass and opinions that don't really matter by democrates.

why does it all go away?
why does it mean everything?
why does it all fade away?
you know, it used to mean everything.

a world of sin, a world of pain, a world of war, a world of gain...

this is, in my opinion the best recording on DROWNING, perhaps followed by 'untitled' and 'irreversible decline'. the whole thing started with the simple line 'why does it all go away', to which i tried my best to copy the melody in my head int actual musical notation. what i ended up with is not quite what i originally heard; it was slightly lower in tone and slower than what i had planned, but i think it turned out for the better. a droning bass line, framed by highly tinkered string and orch synths, and of course my favourite accent, the reversed single piano note. all of the guitars on DROWNING and it's follow-up BOHEMIA are based on one of two guitar synths; neither sounds really anything like a guitar, but if amplified and reverbed, you get something close to one. i feel that in this recording, it worked out the best ('the fall of america' also features this same guitar synth, but to nowhere near the same effect), possibly because i paired it with a very low saw synth. thematically, the song is one of my darkest, completely full of despair. if i ever get around to it, i would love to add the vocals to the song, as well as some screams in the background; but the recording is fine just the way it is. perhaps one could make up their own lyrics to go along with the bass line melody to make it their own personal experience. i think that's another reason why this song works so well- it's ambiguous enough in it's melancholy that any situation could be attributed to it, which was my initial intention. everything, indeed, "goes away".
