As the years went by most of my friends� characters� children (look at all the funny placements of apostrophes ^_^) were growing up at exceptional rates. Some of CJ�s went from infant to adult in a matter of months. But for some reason I just couldn�t bring myself to let go of my little girl. And, unlike most parents for whom keeping their child forever a toddler isn�t an option, for me, well seeing as how she was imaginary, I just wasn�t ever going to let her out of my arms. So what happened? CJ kidnapped her and jumped her eight years into the future so she would be ten!

    Obviously I was outraged. (Not in real life, but I was still pretty miffed.) How would you feel if someone kidnapped your beloved daughter out from under your protective wing and caused you to miss her growing up? Well this I wouldn�t stand for. I magiced her right back to being an infant. From here on it went like a traditional used car price biding war with CJ trying to raise and me trying to lower Demmy�s age.

     �Five!� We would argue.

Well, with much bickering and magic sparkle dust flying everywhere we finally came to rest on an age. Five. And so it was that Demmy was jumped forward in time to age five and I found that this pretend parenting was even MORE fun then keeping her a baby! At age five she could grow even more personality! She went to school, joined little league--- just look at the pictures to see all the adventures we had!

And second (though this actually happened first) Demmy met Candace. At first Candace was just a girl I drew in Demmy�s class picture. To add consistency I put her and some other children from Demmy�s class in the backgrounds of school pictures. Then I drew her into Demmy�s birthday party and pretty soon they were best friends. All things considered this is probably the time period in which Demmy developed and changed the most. And definitely the time in which Demmy went form being a fan character to being truly a child of mine.

		**** Two more important things happened in this time period. First, Demmy lost her wings and become more human. At this point, although I didn�t have any idea that I was going to try and publish her, I did want her to be mine. I wanted her to drop all ties to Disney and Elf Quest, so she developed five fingers (instead of four) and lost her wings and sharper features. Also "Demmy" which previously was short for "Baby Demona" became short for her new name "Demetria". In role play I accounted for this change by saying that her DNA, which had been a mix of gargoyle and elf, was destabilizing and that I had to integrate a large portion of human DNA into the mix to act as a bridge that would help to amalgamate the other two.
