Chapter 3:- All We Ever Look For

~*~*~*~*~*~
Just look at your father
And you'll see how you took after him.
Me, I'm just another
Like my brothers
Of my mother's genes.

'Wow. Two journeys...I wonder if that's a record or something,' thought Pounce. 'Well, I should set up camp...but where?? Ah....this tree is good.'

He took his bag in his jaws, clenching them tight and scurried up the tree. Being a country cat, Pounce knew how to get down from trees. Climbing trees were adventures in their own right to Pounce, and often wondered why other cats didn't climb trees. Pounce snuggled against a tree branch, and stared up at the starry sky. Pounce sighed deeply and let the soft, warm summer breeze drift him into sleep.

*The Next Morning*

Pounce yawned and tried to return to his restful slumber. The sun wouldn't have it, so Pounce decided to look for something to eat. He found a rat and ate that as breakfast. After breakfast, he decided to groom himself, after all, he did just eat a rat. He finished grooming his white and brownish silky fur and started on his way to his brother's Tribe.

As he walked along, Pounced was thinking very hard for a kitten his age. What's he look like? What's his name? Does he even know I exist? Pounce exhaled deeply as he was almost approaching what looked to him as his brother's tribe. 'Deja vu all over again, huh?' he thought to himself. 'I'm so nervous meeting him! Geez, I'm starting to sound like a Queen!'

As with the Jellicle Junkyard, he found kittens playing on the foreground of their Junkyard, and again, he asked one of the kits where their leader was. He was pointed off in the general direction of the leader.

He approached the leader with caution, as with Old Deuteronomy. Pounce finally managed the courage to ask him, "Do you know my father and brother?"

The saged leader replied, "First, lad, I would need their names to help you."

"Oh, I'm sorry. Um, my father's name is Grumbuskin. I don't know what my brother's name is, though," Pounce said in a hurry.

"Grumbuskin left for the Heavyside Layer some time ago. Your brother's name is Tumblebrutus. He's a tom with markings that are akin to you, a bit darker though."

"Well, thank you sir. Where will I find him?" asked Pounce, for the second time.

"He's the tom that's kinda sitting in the shadows," pointed the leader. Pounce smiled.

"Thank you, again!" called Pounce as he walked towards his newfound brother. He jumped on the pile of junk next to Tumblebrutus and paused for a moment.

"Hiya. I'm Pouncival."

"Hi, I'm Tumblebrutus. What brings you here?" Tumble asked.

"Well, I'm looking for my brother," Pounce said cautiously, trying not to surprise or offend Tumble.

"Who's your brother?"

Pounce's heart leapt up into his throat, and swallowed hard. "Well...you see...my brother's...well...YOU."

"You gotta be kidding, kid. I'm nobody's brother." Tumble snapped.

"Yeah, ya are! I swear, honest," Pounce tried to sound reassuring.

"Just explain this to me, please?" Tumble sounded half-surprised and half-angry.

Pounce explained everything to the 't'. And the rest, is history.
