Interview with Jamie Waylett
Written by Pritthish
HPANA recently conducted a lengthy interview with Jamie Waylett (Crabbe) during his visit to New York City. He confirmed that the ferret and Defense Against the Dark Arts scenes have been filmed and that the Yule Ball would be in the movie but has not yet been filmed. He also noted that he would be completed with Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire filming in March of 2005.

What are you going to do when you graduate?
I'm going to go to college full-time. I'm going to see if I have the fifth film, and if I have, I won't go until I'm finished filming. I want to carry on with filming, yes; [but] I like to have a trade if I ever need to do anything like that...

Can you tell us anything about what deleted scenes may be on the DVD?
They cut so much from all the movies. At the last launch party they showed a blooper reel put to music. I had to eat trifle for three days and I hate trifle. I was sitting with Tom and Josh and I just turned and threw up into the bowl. Tom and Josh jumped out of their seats. A very funny scene which should be on the DVD (but may not be) – there is a scene with Devon [Murray; Seamus Finnigan] in Lupin's class where Dracula (his boggart) takes off his cape and it's a woman in a bikini. She starts dancing because Lupin is playing music, and we all start dancing and Malfoy just hits me like I'm a dog or something. The conga line was funny, that was cut out to.

Dan: Second Task will be 'spectacular'
Written by Matthew at 4:00 PM, 09-09-04 - 13 comments
In a personal reply to a letter, Daniel Radcliffe said that the Second Task sequence in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire would be "spectacular":

Filming on Goblet of Fire is going very well. I spent a month in a tank filming the underwater task and I did think I really was going to sprout gills!! It is going to be a spectacular sequence! I have already worked with some of the new actors- Brendan Gleeson and Miranda Richardson and they are all fantastic. As are the actors playing Cedric, Fleur, Cho, and Krum, Robert Pattison, Clemence Poesy, Katie Leung and Stanishlav Ianevski.

Thanks, DanRadcliffe.co.uk.

Digital effects in Prisoner of Azkaban
Written by Pritthish
Cinesite, the company that supplied digital effects, models, film scanning, and recording for Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, has posted some information about the process of making digital effects in the film.

Another major effects shot shows the children approaching Hogwarts at night in carriages which appear to have no means of propulsion. There is a dark and ominous feel to the shot; it is raining, stormy and a black crow lands on a post in the foreground as the carriages pass.

Two carriages were filmed motion control against a bluescreen and replicated into the distance with the motors removed. Hogwarts in the background is the 1/24 scale model. Stills of mountains were supplied as reference for the environment, as well as live action footage of water and moving clouds. This was then all stitched together in Inferno to create the environment and graded down for night. CG rain was also added which interacts with the glowing light of Hogwarts. The signpost and bird in the foreground were also composited in.

Cinesite is currently working on the fourth movie, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Thanks, TLC, for the tip.

Two-legged dog may appear in GOF
Written by Pritthish
There is a possibility that Faith, a two-legged dog who has learned to walk like a human, will appear in a few scenes in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. The scenes "could involve her appearing as the result of a spell." Nothing has been confirmed, but Faith's owners have been contacted by Warner Brothers regarding the role.

Libertines star a fan of HP
Written by Pritthish
Thanks to Penny for sending in this blurb from a French magazine that interviewed Carl Barat of The Libertines:

"I watch movies. I loved Harry Potter. Actually, I've read in a magazine that the main actor [Daniel Radcliffe] loves The Libertines, so I promised to myself I would see it. And I loved it. It's quite funny to think that Harry Potter is a fan of your band."

Rumor: Oldman will not be in Star Wars III
Written by Pritthish
It was rumoured back in June that Gary Oldman (Sirius Black in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban) would be the voice of the "deadliest villian ever" in Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith. Oldman was looking forward to filming it, but it is being made as a non-Screen Actor's Guild film, meaning that if he were to participate in the movie, it would be illegal. "As a resident of America, and also a member of SAG, out of respect and solidarity with the other members, he could not and would not consider violating his union's rules."

Edit: The credibility of DouglasManagementGroup.com (the source of the above information) remains in question considering that all of the pages on the website are identical and the majority of the news articles are written unprofessionally. We thank those of you who brought this to our attention in a polite fashion.
