September 25, 2006~ First Meeting

In Attendance: Jill Lenz, Cheryl Correia, Wendy Bessette, Karen Lombard, Cathy Maccini, Maria Carreiro, Jenny Lawrence, Elaine Martinez, Ann Medeiros, Mark Kruger, Janet Estrella, Jodie Maitoza, Lisa Furtado, Kelly Berube, Cindy Hamel, Julie Bosworth, Lori Wilding, Sheri Sturgeon, Maria Phillips, Michelle Wybraniec

Fundraising: Yankee Candle has begun and will be counted on Friday. October 3^rd Grandma’s Pies fundraising letters will be sent home with students. We will have an after school pickup for both Yankee Candle and the pies. The pies will be delivered the Tuesday before Thanksgiving.

New Officers: Sheri Sturgeon will be taking over the job of treasurer; Joyce Avila will be taking over the sign.

Grants: We received a grant to pay for the Museum of Science StarLab. The StarLab will be coming to do a program for the second grade. The third grade teachers got a grant for their trip to Plymouth Plantation. PTO is looking for ideas for the Lowe’s grant it is up to 5,000.00 dollars and needs to be used for school improvement, cultural diversity, or enhancing a media center or library.

Budget: The PTO balance right now is 10,376.76. This does not include the 1,200.00 raised at the book fair. All the paperwork and taxes are all filed and set with the IRS.

Website: The Lenz’s have updated the PTO website it looks wonderful. They would like wish lists from the teachers to post on it and any special events for each classroom.

Miscellaneous: Apparel will probably happen in the spring only. If anything is needed let Jill know. Cultural events not yet scheduled. 5^th grade party will schedule a meeting. The fence will be going in near the Post Office, in addition to the bench for handicapped equipped playground. School photos traditional ones will be taken in October and casual ones in spring. 9-11 copy room for teachers worked by parents. Looking for ideas for a gift for Garrett’s family.
