British Columbia; Tok and Chicken, Alaska
Pictures of the walking black bear and this wild Bufallo were shot in British Columbia
This is the BC bear.
The first night in Alaska happened during the solstice. Although I wanted to stay up all night, I could not make it and took this picture out of the motor home window at midnight [ with available light]. This is the night of the year when Alaskans who play golf schedule tee times all night. For some playing golf during the night of solstice has become a tradition.
Now back home, in daylight savings time, I miss the long hours of daylight. It did not take much adjustment either way. When you are tired, you sleep!

There have been a lot of forest fires this year in Alaska.
The road from Chicken, Alaska to the Yukon Territory is beautiful, in spite of the the smokey atmosphere.

Speaking of fire. Five years ago there were many fires between Tok and Chicken. The residents of Tok may go to the burned out forests and collect their firewood for the Winter. The wild flowers in this picture are starting the forest on the road to recovery. This forest burned about five years ago. It will take nearly a century for total recovery of this forest [according to a resident of Tok].
