Dragon Ball is the 1st installment of the DB series. The main story focuses around a young na�ve, brave boy named Gokou. In addition to being Very powerful, Gokou is highly skilled in the martial arts. His Grandfather trained him in the ways of Kayokin. In Dragon Ball, Gokou faces a variety of different obstacles including androids/robots, mad scientist, demons and monsters. His friends are not that much easier on him. His martial arts training mostly consist of enemies, friends and masters beating up on him. With the help of the Dragon Balls, a magical set of 7 balls that grants the owner one wish, Gokou manages to become of the strongest fighters in the world. Did I mention that he has a tail?
The second installment of the DB series takes place in the near future of the first series. Gokou is grown up & is still light hearted, somewhat na�ve, but much more powerful. Gokou learns from his brother, Raditz, that he not from Earth and his heritage is that of a Saiyin. Saiyins are a power race of beings that have superior fighting skills. The sole purpose of a Saiyin�s life is to fight. Being raised as a human, Gokou does not share the same faith as his brother. Gokou�s life had been peaceful up to this point.
In between Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z, Gokou has gotten married and has had a child. His son, Gohan, bears a striking resemblance to Gokou when he was a child, and yes Gohan does have a tail. Gohan raises his son in the ways of Kayokin and also trains him to become a much more powerful fighter then himself. ChiChi, Gohan�s mother, would rather see Gohan study rather then fly off with his father to save the world. With the aid of friends, Gokou once again manages to save the world from Saiyins, crazy aliens and Mad scientist.
