Delta Sigma Chi was founded February 14, 1962 on the campus of Heidelberg college in Tiffin, Ohio. There were originally 33 members.

Nicknamed the Delts, they joined two women's groups already established on campus since 1913, The Philalethean society and The Euglossian society. The three groups where later joined by Kappa Psi Omega in 1968.

Four men's groups were established on the campus of Heidelberg as well. The Excelsior Men's Society began in 1851 and Nu Sigma Alpha was established in 1859. Alpha Phi Tau began in 1921 and Sigma Tau Nu started in 1949.

Delta Sigma Chi is symbolized by the crown, dove, ivy and white chrysanthemum. Their colors are navy blue and white with just a touch of gold. The navy blue stands for humility, the white symbolizes purity and the gold represents wisdom.
