When you are a Speaker...

A major portion of each meeting is centered around one or more speakers.   Their speeches are prepared based on manual project objectives and should last five to seven minutes for projects in the Communication and Leadership Program manual; and eight or more minutes for projects in the Advanced Communication and Leadership Program manuals.

Preparation is essential to success when you are the speaker!

o        You are encouraged to work through the manual in speech project order.

o        Advise the Toastmaster the title of your speech, the speech project number, and the minutes required for your speech.

o        You should inform the evaluator about what particular elements you are working on (i.e., voice, gestures, elimination of notes, etc.).

o        You should provide the evaluator with your manual to make written comments about your speech.

o        You may be requested to give an impromptu speech.   Make every effort to fulfill the request and gain from the experience.
