History:
Delta Pi was founded in the Fall of 1991.  All of the founding sisters were members of Pi Alpha Nu Fraternity Little Sisters.  During the summer of 1991, the college board decided that all auxiliary organizations, which included the Pi Alpha Nu Little Sisters, were no longer permitted to operate in any way on the SUNY New Paltz campus.

Sisters of Pi Alpha Nu that remained at New Paltz decided to keep the sisterhood going by founding their own sorority.  After serious consideration, the letters of Delta Pi were chosen, colors were decided upon, and a shield constructed.  In the Fall of 1991, a charter class was inducted.

Together we are striving to create a sorority that stands apart from the rest.  Delta Pi is primarily a social sorority.  The sisters of Delta Pi uphold the ideals of leadership, scholarship, and friendship.  New members of Delta Pi should be unique individuals who will stand up for their ideals and beliefs as well as being a valuable addition to the sorority.

Pledging is designed to help you grow as a person and at the same time as part of the organization.  The people you meet and the experiences you gain while becoming a part of Delta Pi will become memories that will last a lifetime.
