February 25, 2007

I.             Meeting called to order at 1 pm by Jodi Schulte. In attendance: Allen Becker, Traci Grannemann, Amy Pope, Jodi Schulte, Rose Schulte, Karen Becker, and Matt Pope. Minutes from the January online meeting were not available due to electronic problems. It was tabled till the March meeting.  Rose Schulte gave the February 25, 2007 treasurer’s report. Amy Pope motioned to accept the treasurer’s report. Allen Becker seconded the motion. Treasurer’s report was approved.

II.           Old Business:

a.    Regional Convention—We have been asked to be ready to start registration at 3 pm, therefore, we should arrive in Jefferson City around 1:30 pm to have time for set up.  Traci Grannemann has arranged for Brad ??? to design and make shirts for us to match the shirts being worn by the Chi Delta chapter. We have been told they will cost us around $11 to $14 per shirt. Traci will also take care of picking up the shirt and bringing them along to the convention. Amy Pope motioned that we cover the costs of purchasing the name badges as a way to help Chi Delta and the region. Traci seconded the motion. Delta will cover the cost of purchasing the badges. Amy has designed them and will take care of printing all 150 badges.

b.    CHIPS program—Chi Delta is participating in this event. It will be held at Sullivan on March 24th. Rose will send an email asking as many of our members as possible to work this event.  Training will be from 9 to 10 am, and we will be needed to work from 10 am to 3 pm.

c.    International Convention—April 12-14, 207 in Nashville, TN. Traci, Amy, Jodi, and Rose will be attending on behalf of Delta.

III.          New Business:

a.    PTK Night—Friday, April 20, 2007.  Scholarship Fair—Invitation letters will be mailed to all colleges, Shirley Scarbourgh will be asked to represent MAA. It was suggested that we email all chapter advisors in the MO region to invite all regional members to PTK Night.  Dance—Amy will check to see if Spinnin’ Image has a small system available. If so, she and Matt will operate the system so that we can continue to offer a dance to Chi Delta’s members. Follow-up mailings—We discussed if we should do follow-up mailings again this year. Our mailings increased Chi Delta’s membership in the past. We decided to find out what the cost would be and then decide by email whether we should do this or not. Matt suggested that we should have business cards with our email addresses, major and transfer school, and phone number on them for PTK Night. That way new members could have the information handy if needing to contact one of us regarding our mentoring program. Giving a stipend at PTK Night has been tabled till next year.

b.    Chi Delta update—Traci Grannemann reported on Chi Delta’s upcoming events. March 30-31, 2007 they will be helping with the Area High School Music Festival. May 19,2007 they will be hosting a Girl Scout Badge Workshop. Chi Delta could use Delta members help with both of these events.

c.    Traci Grannemann also mentioned that Franklin County is getting ready to change its form of government. Chi Delta may be hosting the first and last town meetings being held to make members of the community aware of the changes and the reason for those changes.

d.    We also discussed the idea of sponsoring a team for Relay for Life to encourage Chi Delta to participate in this type of event. The dates should be June 8-9, 2007. It was suggested that we bring the idea up to Chi Delta and see if they would provide the chair people for a team. We will help them fill a team or be included as a second team if necessary.

e.    Fundraisers—Allen Becker brought up that it was time to start thinking about our summer fundraisers. Rose will call Union WalMart to see if any Saturdays are available in June, July, or August. Allen and Matt prefer to hold a BBQ on a Saturday this year.  Traci mentioned another possible fundraiser for Delta. ECC is looking for groups to cover the concession stand at various games. If the college cannot find enough student organizations to fill all the slots, Delta might be able to work some of those nights.

f.     Delta/Chi Delta Campout—Hopefully we can hold this sometime in June. We will need to talk to Kevin and Chi Delta members to see what interest there is in holding a joint Campout/ Picnic.

g.    Officer retreat—Need to wait to see who next year’s Chi Delta officers will be and whether or not they would be interested in attending.

h.    Motion was made by Rose Schulte to adjourn the meeting so that we could get started on preparing the regional convention registration packets. Amy Schulte seconded the motion. Jodi Schulte adjourned the meeting at 2:15 pm.
