When Deltaire Arabians still owned our herd sire Qublah De Qutmah, and the blue hen producer SA Spirit we had to breed the two. The result was a stunning bay colt, Inteq. Inteq is a very fiery, stubborn stallion. He has brilliance, in intellegence, conformation, and he could win the grammy at attitude. I've been around Inteq since he was born, and he barely respects me. He really has a mind of his own, and beleive me when I say breaking him undersaddle was the hardest job I've ever undertook. He's as pridefull as all getout and it took me half a year to figure out the key to training him. Every day for two months, the critical 'beggining' of my new sessions I lunged him for about half an hour, and finally he'd begin to build up that respect because he's a powerful animal. Naturally Inteq had muscles, and here we always build their muscles and he became lithe and dangerous. The truth is that I had to lunge him on a very long stud chain because if that stud chain is not on he will charge, and take down his lungee. He's cunning, and even with the stud chain on you have to constantly keep his head in, hindquarters at just the right angle so he can't kick at you, or turn and come in. He's a handfull but the payout is going to be worth it. As a three year old and after about a year and a half of every day training he's been conditioning for Endurance Races. And we know this will help, because with his zest, and the muscles he develops by endurance training he definately takes an edge in the halter ring. Inteq is not a horse to underestimate. He loves to run, and he knows it's where he belongs. When that bay horse hits the endurance race, it's not something to just glance at... he's got the power. Inteq is very green, he's probably never going to be anything but just greenbroke. Getting him used to someone new is hard enough, and we're searching for a groom just to take care of him. Inteq really shows up as his grandsire's grandson. This is truly a wonderful animal, even if he's got the most stallionish attitude that a stud ever had. We do know that when he finally is retired to stud, which will probably be when/if he gets hurt - or about when he's proven himself as an endurance racer and a halter horse - he'll definately become our herd sire.
