Phi Mu's Philanthropic Endeavors

The Mr. "Universe"ity Pageant : Local Philanthropy

Phi Mu raises money to for Children's Miracle Network in various ways during the year. Our chapter's  biggest philanthropy event  is Mr. "Universe"ity. This is co-sponsored with  Alpha Omicron Pi during winter quarter since 1995. Men from all over the campus can participate, they are sponsored by different organizations such as other sororities or sports teams. In the   competition the men are judged on three categories (Introduction, talent, and question and answer) and the winner is crowned Mr. "Universe"ity.

Blah Blah : Local Philanthropy

Along with Mr. "Universe"ity, we collect money at College Gate with the the fraternity Phi Kappa Theta (who also support Children's Miracle Network).  The Delta Delta chapter also participates in other chapters philanthropy's, such as  Sigma Chi Derby Days (Spring Quarter) and Lambda Chi Alpha's Watermelon Bust (Fall Quarter).  All of the money we raise goes to The Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.

Children's Miracle Network : National Philanthropy

The philanthropic objectives of Phi Mu focus on health care and education for women and children.

Every Phi Mu can find a project or program which carries out her desires to help others and demonstrates the caring heart of Phi Mu through gifts to the Foundation for programs to benefit the membership of Phi Mu, Children's Miracle Network, and Project HOPE (Health Opportunities for People Everywhere).

In 1986, Phi Mu adopted the Children's Miracle Network as a second philanthropy. To date, collegians and alumnae have raised over $3 million in funds to support local CMN hospitals and have appeared on the CMN's national telethon.

Childrens' Miracle Network honored Phi Mu with a presentation of a CMN Champions for Kid's Award on display at the Executive Office.

Phi Mu's committment to service to others is evident in our most recent endeavor. Phi Mu is the first Greek letter organization to implement a National Philanthropy Day. On the third Monday of October each year, Phi Mu collegiate and alumnae members will participate in service projects in their communities.

Phi Mu distributes Roses Are Red, Violets are Blue, I Beat Cancer...So Can You to all CMN hosptials. The book was written by Kristen Nicole Lewis, the 1998 Children's Miracle Network Telethon Miracle Child. The book explains cancer treatment to children in terms they can understand.
