27 July saw the start of the convention, with registration starting at 2pm. Pauline (my friend) and I arrived at 1:55pm to find the queue already across the car park and out the gates, and within 10minutes the queue had extended right down the street as up to 3,300 convention visitor's arrived.

After half an hour some of the convention organizers came out to split the queue in to three according to surnames, and stewards were walking around with refreshments as the day was already very hot! After about an hour and ahalf we finaly made it inside to the regestration desk's, and once regestered we where free to do what we liked provided we kept our wristbands on. I left Pauline to sit and relax in the Sun Lounge while I joined a shorter queue for tickets to be photographed with the guests of my choice, and naturally I chose Robert McNeil. I also got a reffle ticket for Katie Mulgrew's photo section as these where limited, and a raffle was a way to keep it fair to all visitors and to help Katie raise money for her charity the "Alzheimers Association".

8pm the night the opening ceremony started half an hour later than planed. All guests were present only Tim Russ was missing and Katie Mulgrew promised that no visitor would leave at the end of the convention with out her autograph. where as before because of the number of visitors only a hand full would have recived it, and much to everyone's delight and amazement, she kept her promise and all 3,300+ of visitor's recived her autograph! Even despite the long, hot round the clock, signings, and bloodblisters she recived in doing this.

8:30pm video's (Voyager episodes) where shown to the visitor'still 9:30 when they closed the hall in order to sort it for the disco; The disco started around 10pm with all the visitor's letting their hair down and all joining in, in the dancing to songs like 'Saturday Night', 'Men in Black', and not forgetting 'Star Treking' plus lots more. All helped along by guests Lolita Fatjo (pre-production coordinator for most of Star Trek's series), and Chase Masterson (Leeta from Deep Space 9). Although Pauline and I left at 11:30 due to being tired the party went on till the early hours of the morning. Thus began a great weekend!!!
