Manual Focus
Precise Operation
Creative Control
Minolta's X-700 is
a perfect combination of sophistication and simplicity. In P mode, the
camera selects both the shutter and aperture for the correct exposure,
so all you have to do is focus and shoot. But if you want to take over,
there's aperture-priority exposure control and full metered manual exposure
control right at your fingertips. Plus, the X-700 is backed by Minolta's
full selection of X-Series lenses and accessories, so it's a camera you
can grow with, year after year.
Features
Programmed Automatic Exposure
The Minolta X-700 requires
absolutely no manual setting of aperture or shutter. Simply
select the Program mode and the correct exposure is set to automatically,
even in difficult lighting conditions.
Aperture-Priority Automatic
Exposure
In aperture priority, the
user selects the desired aperture and the X-700 automatically sets the
necessary shutter speed for correct exposure. Large apertures soften
the mood by decreasing depth of field and background sharpness. Smaller
apertures increase depth of field for greater background clarity and realism.
Aperture priority is especially useful when taking portraits, closeups,
and landscapes.
Programmed Autoflash
The X-700 utilizes Minolta
Direct Autoflash Metering and the Auto Electroflash 360 PX, 280 PX, 132
PX, or Macro 80PX for automatic mastery of flash photography.
Auto Exposure Lock
The X-700 allows the user
to lock exposure on a subject by depressing the AE lock slide. This
is particularly useful when the subject is in shade with strong backlighting.
After exposure is locked, the picture can be recomposed with the subject
anywhere in the frame.
Exposure Override
Allows the user to pre-set
over or under exposure by up to 2 stops. Plus or minus 2EV may be
set in half-stop increments to balance unusual conditions, or for creative
effects. A blinking viewfinder LED indicates the exposure adjustment
has been set.
Manual Exposure Control
With metered manual control,
the user has full control of all aperture and shutter combinations.
The user can give the camera more or less exposure than normal, for special
creative effects. The camera's viewfinder provides operating information
so that ongoing metering may be monitored for precise exposure adjustment.
Depth of Field Preview
Manually stops down the lens
and allows the user to examine the depth of field through the viewfinder.
Manual Focusing
For photographers who prefer
a manual focusing SLR, the X-700's bright viewfinder and focusing screen,
together with Minolta's X-Series lenses, assures optimum edge-to-edge picture
sharpness. Large lens rings provide assure grip for fast and accurate
focusing.
Full Line of Lenses and Accessories
The X-700 accepts all Minolta
X-series MC and MD lenses, ranging from a 7.5mm Fisheye to a 1600mm Super.
Telephoto Minolta MD lenses feature a convenient aperture lock for use
with the X-700's Program mode. Each lens is manufactured with ultimate
precision. Other accessories include:
Motor Drive 1 - for high-speed
action photography up to 35 frames per second
Wireless controller R-1 Set
- an infrared signal-activated remote control.
