Are you looking for an affordably priced, easy to use zoom camera for the entire family? Then check out the Minolta Freedom Family Zoom II.

The Freedom Family Zoom II is fully equipped with a built-in, 35 – 60 millimeter power zoom lens, precise autofocusing, automatic flash, and red-eye reduction. The same high-performance features you’d expect to find on the more sophisticated compact cameras. But the Freedom Family Zoom II is very easy to own. And very easy to use. No complicated settings to make, and no bulky equipment to carry. You’re free to concentrate completely on pure picture-taking fun.

Features

Easy Operation
The Freedom Family Zoom II is simple, straightforward, and easy to use, making it the perfect camera for the whole family. All functions are automatic, allowing the user complete freedom to concentrate on the subject or scene. There are no complicated settings to make or confusing buttons to figure out. Just frame the subject in the viewfinder, zoom in or out for a pleasing composition, and press the shutter-release button to take the picture.

Compact, Take-Anywhere Design
The Freedom Family Zoom II’s simplicity, compact design, and light weight make it ideal for everyday use, parties, and taking along on family outings such as vacations, day trips, picnics, and just about anywhere else. The camera slips easily into a coat pocket, purse, or fanny pack, and features a retractable zoom lens with a built-in lens cover to protect the high-quality optics.

35-60mm Aspheric Power Zoom Lens
The high-quality power zoom lens is precision crafted with 4 elements in 4 groups (including aspheric surfaces) for crisp, clear images with true color rendition. The 35-60mm focal range offers a wide range of picture-taking possibilities, from scenic landscapes or groups of people to full-frame portraits. A convenient zoom lever makes it easy to zoom in or out while composing the image in the viewfinder. When the camera is turned off, the lens retracts into the camera body.

Precise Autofocusing
The active infrared autofocus system keeps the main subject sharp from as close as 4.26 feet to infinity at 35mm, and from 5.24 feet to infinity at the 60mm setting. Simply place the autofocus zone on the main subject, press the shutter-release button partway down to activate autofocus, then press the button all the way down to take the picture.

Focus Hold
This feature locks the focus so that the main subject can be creatively positioned anywhere in the frame. Just place the autofocus zone on the main subject, press and hold the shutter-release button partway down to lock the focus, recompose the picture as desired, then shoot.

Multi-Function Automatic Flash
The Freedom Family Zoom II eliminates flash worries and guesswork by making the flash decisions automatically. Whenever the light is low, the camera fires the built-in flash to properly expose the subject. Additionally, Fill Flash may be selected anytime to eliminate harsh shadows or for proper subject illumination if the main subject is backlit. A Flash Cancel button is provided for shooting twilight scenes, or for situations where the use of flash is not permitted, such as in a museum.

Red-Eye Reduction Lamp
To reduce the common red-eye effect caused by the flash reflecting off the inside of the subject’s eyes, a red-eye reduction lamp on the front of the camera glows to close down the subject’s pupils before the flash is fired and the picture is taken.

Automatic Film Operation
Film handling worries are a thing of the past with the Freedom Family Zoom II. Simply position the film cartridge and leader, then close the camera back. The camera automatically sets the DX-coded film speed (ISO 100 or 400), threads the film to the first frame, advances the film after each shot, then rewinds the film when the roll is finished. The power rewind function can be activated at any time.

Self-Timer
The convenient self-timer delays shutter-release for approximately 10 seconds after the shutter-release button has been pressed, allowing the user to set up the shot and appear in the photo. Self-timer operation is cancelable, and a blinking lamp on the front of the camera signals before the picture is taken.

Auto Power OFF
There’s no problem if someone forgets to turn the Freedom Family Zoom II off. The camera turns itself off automatically if not used for approximately three minutes. In this case however, the zoom lens does not retract into the camera body so it can be powered back on quickly.
