Exciting Features
High-Quality Results
Have you heard about the
great little camera with the great big view? It’s the Minolta AF50 Big
Finder, and it’s a fun camera to use.
The AF50 Big Finder has an extra-large viewfinder, so you get a bigger, better view of your subject and scene. And the AF50 Big Finder is easy. Just frame your subject in the big viewfinder, then press the shutter button. Everything’s automatic.
The Minolta AF50 Big Finder is compact, lightweight, and easy to take along wherever you go. It’s a perfect travel companion, and it makes a great gift, too.
Features
Extra Large Viewfinder
The AF50 Big Finder’s extra-large
viewfinder offers a generous magnification of 0.6X. The subjects appear
large and clear, making it easy to follow the action and compose the shot.
In addition, the Bright Frame outline shows a clear guide for quick and
accurate image framing.
High-Quality, All-Glass 27mm
Lens
The AF50 Big Finder’s 27mm
lens is precision-crafted from high-quality optical glass, for sharp images
with high contrast and true color rendition.
Precise Autofocusing
The AF50 Big Finder’s automatic
focusing system provides high-quality results with very simple operation.
Precise infrared autofocusing ensures a clear, crisp focus even on low-contrast
subjects, from as close as 3.28 feet (1 meter) to infinity. Combined with
Minolta's high-quality all-glass lens, clear and sharp images are produced
roll after roll. Additionally, a focus hold feature locks the focus so
that the main subject can be creatively positioned anywhere in the viewfinder.
Programmed Autoexposure
The AF50 Big Finder’s programmed
automatic exposure system eliminates the need for complicated camera settings,
and provides an optimum shutter-speed and aperture combination to ensure
the best exposure in virtually any lighting condition. With programmed
AE, the user is free to concentrate on the subject and scene.
Self-Timer
For photographers who want
to appear in the picture with their friends and families, the AF50 Big
Finder is equipped with a self-timer. Once the self-timer is activated,
the camera takes the picture 10 seconds after the shutter-release button
is pressed. The self-timer lamp on the front of the camera signals just
before the picture is taken.
Automatic Film Transport
Film transport is completely
automatic with the AF50 Big Finder. Simply position the 35mm film cartridge
and leader, and close the camera’s back cover. The film will automatically
advance to the first frame and then to subsequent frames after each shot.
When the roll is finished, the film will rewind back into the cartridge
automatically. Additionally, the film can be rewound at any time simply
by pressing the rewind button.
Film Chamber Lock
The AF50 Big Finder’s Film
Chamber Lock is a safety feature adopted from Minolta’s Vectis line of
cameras. When the film is loaded, the camera detects the filmstrip and
locks the back cover so that it cannot be opened until the film is rewound
into the cartridge. With this new security feature, your once-in-a-lifetime
moments are protected from loss due to accidental exposure.
Slim, Compact, and Lightweight
Body
The AF50 Big Finder is very
easy to carry anywhere you go. Weighing only 5.8 ounces, this slim and
compact camera is one of the lightest in its class. Slim rubber grips on
the front of the camera body contribute to a firm and secure hold.
Versatile Flash Modes
The AF50 Big Finder's multi-function
flash enables you to properly light your subject in a wide range of shooting
conditions, by providing Autoflash, Fill-flash, and Flash Cancel modes.
In addition to the Autoflash mode, which fires the flash in low-light situations,
Fill-flash can be used to eliminate harsh shadows, or to give backlit subjects
a better exposure. The Flash Cancel mode is ideal in situations where the
use of flash is prohibited, such as in a museum.
Red-Eye Reduction
To reduce the unflattering
red-eye effect common in flash-lit portraits, a red-eye reduction lamp
on the front of the camera glows to close down the subject’s pupils before
the flash is fired.
LCD Data Panel Display
An LCD data panel on top
of the camera allows quick viewing of camera status including flash mode,
self-timer use, low battery warning, number of frames taken, film transport,
and film loaded.
Selectable Date/Time Imprinting
(DATE model only)
The built-in quartz data
back imprints the date or time right onto each photo. Data imprinting can
be switched on or off as desired, and is very useful for cataloging photographs
or keeping photo records of birthdays, weddings, graduations, and other
important events.
