News from our president:

Hello, everyone, and welcome back to a new year. I hope you had a wonderful and relaxing summer.  Where did all those wonderful fun filled days go?

I have been working with the other officers trying to create an exciting program for our up coming meetings this year. We were hoping by changing the day each month that more members will be able to attend the meetings.

As of now, the dates for our meeting are: MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 15; TUESDAY, OCTOBER14; NO MEETING IN NOVEMBER; special optional Christmas event on SATURDAY, DECEMBER 13; WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 28 / SNOW DATE, FEBRUARY 5; THURSDAY, MARCH 5,;TUESDAY, APRIL 7 AND MONDAY, MAY 4.

As of now, the only speakers or events that are confirmed are December 13, April 7 and May 4.  On Saturday December 13, New Castle has a special Christmas event.  It has 9-10 homes open for view. They are decorated for Christmas. The tour of these homes is FREE!! If you would like to make a donation, the New Castle Presbyterian Church is the sponsor.  I am suggesting we have lunch at the restaurant in New Castle called Arsenal on the Green and then tour the houses.  More information will follow.

Tuesday, April 7 is our Tea at the Taste of Britain, price to be determined.

Lastly, on Monday May 4 is our auction and "pot luck' dinner.

Our project this year will involve working with another Delta Kappa Gamma chapter, IOTA. I have discovered that the organization called DAPI, which helps girls who are pregnant (ages 13 1/2 to 18) is in need of all kinds of school supplies. After talking with some members from IOTA they too want to help out.  To begin with, we are requesting that everyone bring some school supplies to the September 15th meeting. They (DAPI) are in need of paper, pencils, pens, 3-ring binders, graph paper, notebook paper, pocket folders, regular folders, small rulers, paper clips, highlighters, colored pencils, small calculators, black & white composition books and even paper for the copy machine.  More information and discussion (about additional support we will provide) will follow.

Regretfully, I must inform you all of an increase in our dues.  The State organization (following action taken at the International Convention this summer) has suggested a need to increase the annual dues. Chapter Presidents met and discussed the amount and need.

You will be getting your e-mail information from Kay or Kathy. They both have everything set up in their computers. If you wish to contact me, please feel free to call or e-mail me.

Have you retired in the last 10 years? We may have missed celebrating with you! Please send your retirement date to Kay Houston. We are trying to collect information so we “sisters” can celebrate our lives. Bring your “data” to the  meeting or contact Kay via phone or email.

Have we missed an important date? Were you really under the weather and you did not hear from us? Please keep Adrienne Woodard informed. We have “get well” wishes just waiting to get out there. Perhaps someone had a wedding or baby? Let Adrienne know.([email protected]) As part of life, we also would like to commemorate anyone’s passing, so if you have sad news of that, Adrienne needs to know.

Let’s try to share a ride this year. If you need a ride or can give a ride, send your name to Kay Houston and she will play matchmaker. Thanks Kay!
