DELTA Goodrem was taken to hospital in Los Angeles last week after contracting a virus.

Her mother Lea rushed her daughter for treatment after Delta's temperature soared.

The 19-year-old entertainer's immune system remains weak after her treatment for hodgkin's disease. Delta was successfully treated for the virus and is now spending the final days of her US holiday with boyfriend, Mark Philippoussis in Palm Springs.

"Her immune system was affected by the treatment for cancer and when she copped a bad virus, her temperature went through the roof," a source close to the Goodrem family said.

"She was admitted to hospital last week but she's completely fine now and enjoying the end of her holiday."

The Goodrems are expected to return to Sydney this weekend.

Delta is scheduled to begin rehearsals for her lead role in her debut film, Hating Alison Ashley, based on the best-selling Australian novel by Robin Klein.

Filming is scheduled to begin in Melbourne in late April.
