Scud Holds Court
Autograph king in tune with Delta love match.
Mark Philippoussis was king of the kids yesterday as he signed autographs for more than an hour, causing pedestrian gridlock and hysteria.
And the boy from Williamstown did not hose those Delta Goodrem rumours after the pair were photographed together.
Goodrem, who has finished her course of chemotherapy and radiotherapy for Hodgkins disease, had enjoyed a dayout, courtesy of Philippoussis, at Sydney's Adidas international tennis tournament last week.
After a gruelling practise session on court 17, a shirtless Scud acknowledged the fans by signing hats, giant tennis balls and body parts.
Wearing a black cross dangling agaist his chest, Philippoussis was relaxed as people surged forward.
The Herald Sun heard a cheeky fan ask if he was "born to try", a reference to Goodrem's hit song of the same name.
Realising the fan's joke, Philippoussis's face broke into a huge grin and he said "No, mate, no me, not I."
Not Me, Not I is goodrem's latest offering on the Australian charts.
After signing autographs courtside for 40 minutes, Philippoussis moved to the autograph island in the Fanzone enclosure to continue pressing the flesh and answering children's questions. Many of them inquired about the status of his love life.
A line snaked around the enclosure and into the afternoon heat, but fans didn't care.
Philippoussis was asked by a young child if Goodrem was his girlfriend.
"Pardon, sorry. Can you repeat the question?" he joked.
He answered a coy "maybe" to a question inquiring whether he was seeing anyone.
Thanks to the Herald son for this story <\b>
