Delta to sing for country
February 9th 2004
SINGER Delta Goodrem has been invited to sing the Australian national anthem at the Athens Olympics.
Goodrem has been asked by the Australian Olympic Committee to sing at the Australia team reception two days before the opening ceremony on August 13.
An AOC spokesman said the organisation had contacted her agent and would wait to hear back.
Goodrem, 19, is on holiday in the US with her mother, Lea.
When contacted by the Herald Sun yesterday they said they had not yet been informed of the offer.
The AOC spokesman said Goodrem was invited because she was young, the athletes were young and she would be a perfect fit.
