Dinner With Darren Hayes
A relaxed and optimistic Delta Goodrem has shared a special dinner with two high-profile friends to thank them for their support during her battle with cancer.
Goodrem, wearing a cap over her close-cropped hair, had a fun night out with former Savage Garden singer Darren Hayes and Danielle Spencer, wife of Oscar winner Russell Crowe, at a private dinner in Sydney.
It was the first time Goodrem had sat down with the former Savage Garden frontman, who performed a tribute to her at last year's ARIA awards, singing Lost Without You and moving Goodrem to tears.
Before Tuesday night they had only spoken on the phone, as Hayes had to get back to the United States quickly after the ARIAs in October.
The private thank-you dinner was organised by Goodrem's good friend, co-writer and producer Vince Pizzinga.
Spencer, who has also worked with Pizzinga, and Crowe have supported the 19-year-old since she was diagnosed with cancer last year.
"It was a very relaxed dinner and intimate, between a few friends, just a bit of thank you," a source said.
Goodrem was in high spirits after finishing her treatment for Hodgkin's disease, which has ravaged her trademark mane of blonde hair.
She will now wait for doctors to determine if the treatment has been successful.
She is still focused on getting her health back to 100 per cent, and will not take on any public engagements until then.
Once given the all-clear, it is expected she will be launched on to the US market, where there is a lot of interest in the Australian star.
A source said Goodrem was looking forward to this year with fresh optimism after the gigantic ups and downs of last year.
There have been some incorrect reports that Goodrem will be the special guest performer at the Allan Border Medal in February.
The pop star is likely to top one million Australian sales of her album, Innocent Eyes, next week.
It is expected her album will go back to the top of the charts next week, replacing Guy Sebastian's Just As I Am.
Innocent Eyes is the biggest Australian album ever. Goodrem is the first artist to have five No. 1s from one album.
Goodrem's dinner party of about eight left the Sydney restaurant about 1am on Wednesday.
Also dining at the Sydney restaurant on Tuesday night was the comedian and star of The Wog Boy, Nick Giannopoulos.
The group met at the bar before moving to a private function room.
