CHAPTER SIX

Back To Dalaran

The wind blows hard has Rahlynn scales the hills in Hillsbrad on his way to Dalaran. He shields his face from the elemental forces as he pushes on determined to see his old friends the Kirin Tor. About half way to Dalaran a voice echoes in his ears, Stop it, says with a bit of determination. Caught off guard by the voice Rahlynn turns his head back and forth hoping for some movement so that his orb may tell him something of the mysterious voice. A footstep sounds, which causes Rahlynn to turn instinctively towards it. Who goes there? he yells out. Waiting a moment for a response he yells out again while raising his hand he beings to conjure a spell, reveal your-self to me or suffer the consequences! Another moment of silence goes by while the mysterious person remains silent. Decided as he had in the past not to take any chances a ball of fire forms in the palm of his hand and he swiftly throws it to the ground beneath him. The fire hits the grounds and dispels. Taking a few steps back Rahlynn becomes concerned and attempts to call up an arcane shield but once again it seemingly fails. I mean you know harm the voice echoes almost harmonically. I am here to help you Master Delsuvius. For a moment Rahlynn is distrusting but something about the voice seems sincere. Why then do you approach me in such a way, again I say reveal yourself. I approach you in such a way the voice echoes because it is my choice to do so, and I answer only to one, so refrain from making such demands, if you please. Stuck with no other choice as the voice seems to have the upper hand Rahlynn concedes to his requests, Then what, may I ask, NO you may not ask, I have already said I do not answer to you, I shall do the asking. Taken a back for a moment by the change of tone in the voice Rahlynn begins to think he is foolish for standing by so idly. A moment passes with silence and then the voice speaks out again, Good I am glad we have settled that, that air around Rahlynns head begins to gain in pressure which cautions him. A cracking noise sounds and then a spark of light, a radiant light, one that Rahlynn had never seen before, it stretched in all directions seemingly endless. Stuttering a bit Rahlynn inquires, What in the world are,, I am a mage as you are Rahlynn, only a bit more learned. Scoffing at the understatement Rahlynn kneels out of instinct of being in the presents of such a dominating power, I apologize for my ignorance your reverence. Letting out a laugh though could have crumbled a mountain the voice responds, Do not do such with me, for in truth I am your humble servant this time. I have a quest for you Master Delsuvius, a quest that will take great courage. I need for you to be my eyes and ears among the Alliance, for I myself cannot be. Almost laughing he puts his head down, your ears I can be, my eyes I fear not for in all your greatness have you overlooked the fact that I, interrupting him the voice sounds out, blind, yes I know this but that is no matter. Confused for a moment Rahlynn looks towards the echoing voice and as he does he feels the touch of a hand across his eyes, and then swiftly another hand placed around the back of his head. Fear not and do not struggle, the voice says just as Rahlynn beings to do so, For I have the power to give you sight.

The voice watches as Rahlynns head encases in a ball of fire. Whispering words in an ancient tongue the voice removes his hands and steps back causing the ground beneath his feet to shake. Rahlynn drops to his knees as if in pain and places his hands over his eyes, they burn and smolder for a moment from the heat of the fire. The magic swelling around Rahlynns head pushes his hands away, Rahlynn looks to the sky and screams as the fire beings to swirl around his head in an upward spiral until it sits a foot above him. The fire continues to churn until all of a sudden Rahlynn opens his eyes and the fire forcefully enters knocking him onto his back. A few moments go by as the voice watches Rahlynn lie on the ground in pain, until finally he takes a deep breath. Rahlynn pushes himself up off the ground shaking his head he looks towards the voice with his eyes shut. Open them the voice says and so Rahlynn complies. The first sight Rahlynn sees is that of a blurred bright figure seemingly incased in a shield of flames. The light burns his eyes and he quickly closes them, That is to be expected Master Delsuvius, as you have not used them in a long time. The voice looks to Rahlynn as he attempts to open his eyes again, what was once silver dead eyes are now alive with flaming red orbs. You must be cautious when using them, for they will not be normal to the eyes of men. The mysterious voice warns Rahlynn, Hand me your Orb. It requests. Figuring there is not point of arguing now Rahlynn places his hand to his head and the orb falls easily into his hand. He hands the orb towards the mysterious voice and as it takes it he feels the touch of a hand, scaled, and rough brush across his palm. Muttering a few more words in the an ancient tongue the voice conjures great magics around him. A few moments pass and then the voice hands the orb back to Rahlynn saying, This orb will shield your eyes from all others, know that when you wear it your eyes will not function with the gift I have given you. Without the orb others will see the oddity that is not your eyes and you will have much explaining to do. Sadly explanations I cannot award you at this time. Trust me Rahlynn for I am not your enemy. The voice then hands another object to Rahlynn and says, wear this around your next, it will allow me to communicate with you at all times, and you with me. Be cautious with this as well for it is a great power to wield. It will heat up slightly when I am trying to contact you at which time you must escape the presents of all others. And if I choose not to answer you call? Rahlynn inquires, That would be your choice to make, and my choice to burn you horribly, the voice responds laughing, For I can be quiet persistent. What is it that you want from me, no one gives such things without wanting something in return. Rahlynn inquires. All in good time, was the last words the voice spoke before fading away.

Rahlynn stood for a few minutes going over everything in his mind until he decided it was time to try his eyes again. He opened them only to find the light much to bright for him to handle. He sighed as he placed his orb back to his forehead deciding it would be best to work with them at night for the light would not be so bright then. Turning towards the direction of Dalaran he continues his journey to find his old friend.
